Story of the AKG C414 - SATURN SOUND
AKG were to re-create/emulate the sound of the original CK12 capsule, in a new nylon version (2072-Z-0009), similar to the (2072-Z-0005) already in production. This new capsule was to be used in the "Gold Grill" version of the C414B-TL, to be known as the C414B-TLII .

cmv563 and um57 to u47 - SATURN SOUND
Both the "Modified" CMV563, with the M7 capsule fitted and the UM57, will "Basically" sound like a U47.

The overall sound was amazing, and when listing to recordings made using simple microphone techniques, the depth of the stereo image was absolutely fantastic. This was especially true, on recordings using a single pair of microphones, using the "Middle and Side" technique.

The 19 A-19 Y2 microphone uses a selected miniature wire ended Nuvistor, that gives this microphone a drier sound with a slightly tizzy top end. Together with the high quality built-in matching transformer, you have a very useful studio microphone, sounding somewhat different to a standard 19 A-19.

This large "Cross sectional area", enabled the design to have an excellent overload performance at LF. Therefore, the prototype VM-951, was able to capture the "Weight/Force" of the sound being recorded, with great ease.

What helps to make the 2072 Z 0009 capsule sound that much closer to the original "Brass" CK12 than the 2072 Z 0005 ? 1 - The 2072 Z 0009 uses a more complex, internal, acoustic resistive path to that of the 2072 Z 0005, being similar to that of the "Brass" CK12 capsule design.
