Once it reaches 80 psi and cuts out there is a reserve of water stored in the tank. The pump can remain of longer and once the low pressure event is reached and it cuts in it can stay on longer. Longer cycles are better.

If you put the tank before the pump (closer to the well) and set the pressure higher than the pump, the pump won't run until the tank is below pressure. It will exhaust the tank quickly after that.

2019年9月9日 · The plumber told me that since the pressure did not drop, the leak was not from the tank the the well and that it had to be someplace in the house. Again, I could not find any leaks. Next I checked the air pressure in the tank, which should have been 28#, but it was at 36#. I adjusted the pressure accordingly and will see what happens from here.
