The $200 coffee table is noticeably better built than the $30 one, but that doesn't mean that the latter will crumble with daily use. The reputation of IKEA furniture being "cheap" has to do with most of it being pressed wood as opposed to solid hardwood.

Having said that, I have had great luck with Ikea furniture. Love the Kallax line, and am a big fan of the Aurdal closet systems. If you have a closet space, it's the way to go. Inexpensive and so sturdy. I have Ikea billy bookcases that have moved 3 times in 5 years. The trick with moving Ikea furniture is to take it apart, label the parts.
