2004年6月27日 · Ive totally switched to circle hooks for all my fishing.Other then bait fishing.Ive come to notice that circle hooks arnt very effective on flounder.When you do hook one it seems the circle likes to grab the gills.I figure because the way a flounder is proportioned.With one corner actually being where the gills are.Im wondering if anyone else has experienced this.I also …

Just remember not all circles are mande the same and you will on occasion can gut hook a fish on cirlcles. In the long run circle hooks are the tools to use for catch and release.

2008年7月21日 · I don't use circles for fish that small, but when I do use them, I let the fish pull until he hooks himself. It's pretty obvious when that happens because your rod is bowed up and you can feel him pulling. I can't get past the habit of setting the hook so I only use circles on spiked rods. It definitely takes some getting used to.

Because it can be pushed up the shank a ways. As you know choking a circle hook is a bad idea, these offer some extra room for the larger baits.

I do have some 10/0 circle hooks from China that have a real big gap on them and are fine wire that you can bend easily in your fingers but because of the fine wire, the hook penetrates its barb just as easily and is good for really big baits, like a big mullet head.
