2016年8月31日 · 4 year old thread, OP hasn't logged in for 2 years, throwing away an entire batch of crickets because of dermestid beetle larvae (which are used as clean up crew for cricket farms) is dumb as hell. Crickets are fine as feeders, they've been a staple feeder for decades, people on here have used them for decades without issue.

If you have many small slings you can breed your own pinheads using these females. I have a large deli container I have set up with moist substrate and a small cricket food dish.

2012年2月17日 · From what I can tell through a quick google, they seem to be flesh eating beetles, the kind museums use to clean skeletons. I guess that is why they infested the cricket company, they are eating dead crickets. The bad thing is, they are considered a pest and can infest houses. I haven't heard back from Flukers yet but is is the weekend.

2015年9月24日 · This morning I noticed 2 or 3 dead crickets that had a bunch of tiny white worms, kind of like maggots, wriggling in them. The same white worms, on closer inspection, were all over the floor of the cage, especially on the cricket food. I previously had noticed fruit fly-looking flies hovering around the cricket cage.

2021年2月12日 · Dermestid beetle larvae are very common hitchhikers in cricket shipments. They function as a clean-up crew for the breeders, devouring dead crickets, molts, and other debris. Because of the bristly hairs, they are not very palatable as feeders so if you drop them into your tanks, there's a good chance they'll burrow into the substrate and mature.
