The U.K.’s weather forecasters, the Met Office, said thick fog patches could reduce visibility to just 328 feet in some areas across the country. It said travelers should allow “a little bit longer” for journeys and warned drivers to be extra careful.

London: Air travellers in Britain faced further disruption on Saturday, as fog that has blanketed much of the country in recent days grounded flights and hampered landings and take-offs. London Gatwick airport was most affected, according to aircraft tracking website Flightradar24.

"Restrictions of this sort are only ever applied to maintain safety." A London Gatwick spokesperson said: "Temporary air traffic restrictions have been put in place due to fog causing poor visibility.

Disruption is continuing at some of the UK’s busiest airports as thick fog blankets the country. Flights at Stansted airport have been affected by the weather conditions, while live departure boards showed delays at Heathrow,
